Taquala Lake

Taquala Lake Album
We headed out of town for the weekend. Our destination was Lake Kachess, but we had no luck finding a campsite. We drove on, braving a long gravel road and a low gas tank. What we found at the end was a dream, Taquala Lake. We found a huge campsite along the lake with views of the nearby mountain peaks. The wild flowers were in bloom. We enjoyed the company of our friends and the kids managed a four mile round trip hike. Most of us could only manage to dip our toes into the icy cold lakes and creeks, but a couple were brave and took a swim. We can't wait for our next camping trip!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

There is a sudden interest (fear) of spiders in the house recently. So, we've been learning about how helpful spiders can be by eating other bugs and how they build their beautiful webs. Hopefully, this will help us feel like spiders can be our friends.

Wallingford Kiddie Parade

This weekend, we walked in the Wallingford Kiddie Parade. This year, we had the honor of carrying our school's banner. It was a perfect summer day. We handed out pinwheels and candy. Rode some ponies and finished it off with some ice cream. For more pictures from the parade, check out the Wallyhood Blog.

Happy Birthday USA!

Jul 4, 2010 Album
It was 60 degrees and rained, but we made the best of it. One of the fireworks displays takes place at Gasworks Park, just down the hill from our house. The kids weren't able to stay up to catch the fireworks, but we all went down during the day to have some lunch and enjoy the festivities.

Language Camp Album
Audrey's starting kindergarten in the fall. Her school, John Stanford International School, is a public immersion language school. She'll be spending half her day studying in Spanish! She got a taste of it at Language Camp this week. Here are some picture of the kids performing "La Araña Pequeñita" on the last day.
