Happy Easter! Teddy colored eggs with the girls and Jules came over to help hunt them in the basement (it was raining).

Mexico

We had a great vacation! Grandpa & Mimi Koehn met us in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico for some fun and relaxation in the sun. Both the girls had fun in the water. Audrey loved having Mimi take her into "the deep". And, Piper finally got brave and also wanted to swim in the deep. Only problem with that was that she really thought she could swim and was constantly trying to squirm away. Audrey discovered the joy of the strawberry smoothie. She kept saying, "This is really good." Piper got the nickmame "Scarface"...another vacation, another scrape on her face :(.

Snowy Day

Snow Album 2008

We headed up to the mountains to play in the snow. Of course, we forgot our camera, so the pictures were taken with the phone. We all got bundled up. Daddy pulled Mama & Audrey in the sled. We watched bigger kids slide down the hills and had a picnic in the snow. Piper missed out on the picnic because she fell asleep in the backpack! We hear that it might snow later this week, so maybe we won't have to drive so far next time we want to play in the snow.

Happy First Birthday, Piper! We celebrated her actual birthday with pizza & cupcakes. Then, the following weekend, we had family and friends over for a Korean Tol celebration. Nanny & Papa made it from Philly, and Grandpa & Mimi came from Eugene. The girls looked adorable in their han boks. We did a tol jabee, where Piper grabbed items that represent her future. She picked the items for love and music. She seemed to enjoy being sung to and eating her cake. I can't believe that a year's gone by so quickly. Piper's walking so solidly and wanting to feed herself with a spoon. What a big girl!

HI Christmas Album 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas in Hawaii with Tutu (or as Audrey calls her, "Maui") and Colin. The girls loved the beach and Audrey learned to love playing in the ocean. We did lots of relaxing and made a couple trips out to the aquarium. The flights were hard with two squirmy girls. Thank goodness for portable DVD players. It was all well worth it to spend Christmas with Tutu on the beach.

Christmas felt like it took up the whole month, starting with celebrations with Grandpa & Mimi Koehn. This was followed by a Christmas gift exchange with our FWK (friends with kids) and then one with Aunt Cassie & David. We're so blessed to be able to share the holiday season with all of you.

Piper Walks

Piper started walking. At first it was a few steps at a time. Next came walking from sofa to ottoman. Now, she can walk across the whole living room and even tries to follow us through the house.

Philly Album

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

We had a great time getting ready for and celebrating Halloween. The girls were a tiger and a dragon. Our friends came over for some trick-or-treating. Audrey thought it was a blast to go running around after dark. She started off a bit shy but once she realized that she was getting candy, she got braver (imagine that!). Thank goodness for a two and a half year old's memory. She pretty much forgot about the candy the next day. I don't think that will be the case next year!

We also took a trip to the east coast to see the Chong's and some girlfriends. The girls had a great time hanging out with their Nanny & Papa. We went to the Philadelphia Zoo and saw the new baby tigers, and the Please Touch Museum. We also made sure that the girls got a taste of Philly with cheese steaks, pizza, pretzels, and, of course, lots of Korean food. It was exciting to see Auntie Deena's new townhouse, and Auntie Erin & Uncle Ray's new house, and do lots of catching up. Unfortunately, we lost our camera, so there are no pictures to share.

Back to School

Back to School Album 2007

Both the girls had their first couple of days of school for the year. Piper goes to Infant Preschool on Thursdays with Mama. She was a bit shell shocked by the big classroom filled with toys at first, but she has gotten used to it. Now, she climbs onto everything, including the younger children, and loves the songs.

Audrey goes to Pre-3's Preschool on Mondays with Mama and Wednesdays by herself. Audrey's teacher and Barney Bear came for a visit to our house before school got started. She got a big kick out of that. Audrey spends a lot of time painting, and in the home center. She has also discovered the trains and puzzles. This week we're responsible for snack. So, with the help of Mimi, Audrey made mini blueberry muffins for all her friends.

Both the girls love school and we're off to a great start. We hope you have a great school year too!

Here are some random pictures from this summer. Some of them were taken on my phone, so the picture quality is not so good. The summer went by too fast and the rain has already started.

Piper on the Move

Piper's on the move. She's been crawling and pulling her self up for the past couple of weeks. I can't seem to get my stuff together to take a movie, so this slide show will have to do. As you can see, she's quite determined to get where and what she wants. So far, this has only been a problem when she sees the bathroom door open and goes after the cat food.

Grandpa's Birthday

Grandpa Koehn & Mimi were in town for a visit. Audrey lovingly made a "cake" decorated with cinnamon and sugar sprinkles for Grandpa's birthday. The best part was when Audrey said "Grandpa eat it." And, like a good Grandpa, he did take a bite. Now, that's love.

Deep in the Heart of Texas

Dallas 07

Sloan & Piper headed to Dallas to catch up with some great friends. First, a visit with Margie, Noah & Micah. Thank you to Margie & Noah for lunch and to Micah for the kisses.

Then, off to the Kraus House to meet the boys, Zachary & Aaron, who were born in March. Heather figured out that we've known each other for 17 years! And, it was a bit surreal hanging out with our kids. After many hours of swapping stories about sleep, spitup and poop, Heather asked what we used to talk about before we had kids. Hell if I remember!

We finished off our trip with a lovely lunch with Margie. Good luck with commuting to Austin this year.

We wish these friends were closer so that we could to this more often. We're looking forward to the next time.

Cooper Lake

Camping 2007

We went on our first family camping trip. Audrey was so excited to sleep in a tent. She got dirty and played in the lake. Piper loved being outside all day. We had great company - Jill, Darren & Sai, Eriko & Miya, and Johan and Thom (his nephew from Belgium).

Baby Avik

We had a visit with Baby Avik and his parents. We're so glad to meet him and can't wait till they move back from Hawaii. Aloha!

Oregon

Oregon 2007

We just got back from a whirlwind trip to Oregon. We showed off Piper to the Eugene clan, who hadn't met her yet. Teddy had his 20 year high school reunion. And, we had some fun in Black Butte with Brent, Katherine, Lillian & Landry. The kids did great in the car and slept a lot during the 5+ hour drives.

Piper's so strong and just dying to get moving. She's so frustrated that she can't crawl yet, not that she's not trying. You'll see the results of her attempts in the pictures. She's fully recovered, by the way.

We headed up to the mountains for a little R&R. Unfortunately, Teddy & Audrey got sick, but they hung in there. This is the same group that we went to the mountains with last winter. I included some pictures from that trip for comparison. Kids grow fast!
